Longo Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery located in Beaufort, South Carolina’s Waterfront Park. The gallery features unique, original paintings and sculptures that celebrate life and family. Using innovative materials, the works reinterpret traditional subjects as well as inventing new ones.
The gallery features the works of the Longo family.
Eric Longo was born in Pawcatuck, Connecticut in 1948, and educated at the school of the Worcester Art Museum and the Rhode Island School of Design.
Suzanne Longo was born in Youngstown, Ohio. She attended Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a major in sculpture.
Moon Longo, their son, graduated from the College of Charleston, class of 2001, and studied glass blowing at San Francisco State University.
Both Suzanne and Eric have worked as full time artists since graduation. They met in New Orleans at the onset of their careers, and lived there for 25 years before moving to Beaufort, South Carolina where they opened the Longo Gallery in 1992. Two years later they expanded to their second location at the Beaufort Waterfront Park.
In Eric Longo’s work, the environment is an archetypal landscape, inhabited by a vocabulary of cultural icons. Using found materials for both paintings and sculptures. His work makes a connection between resource and art. (read more about Eric Longo)
Suzanne Longo’s art work depicts the enduring strength of women, family, and relationships expressed in monumental forms that celebrate intimate moments universal to all times and civilizations.
